Riegel descendants in Ukraine

Some of you may have typed "Riegel" into a search engine and came across the Odessa Genealogy Library. You found a couple of Riegels there and wondered if they are related to us.

Yes, this puzzle is solved. We could follow Peter Riegel's (1.4.3.8.2) and his wife Maria Elisabetha's trace from Otzweiler to Hungary and Ukraine, although their family moved several times.

The following sources helped solving the puzzle:

Vienna Emigration List 1785:
"Peter Riegel, reformed, cooper from Otzweiler emigrated with his wife, 2 sons, 4 daughters and 1 unmarried servant Heinrich Schenkenberger to Hungary."

Town Chronicle of Tscherwenka, Hungary:
"Peter Riegel, born 1744, died 1790 in Tscherwenka, left a wife Maria Elisabeth"

Odessa Immigration List:
"Elisabeth Riegel immigrated 1803 to Grossliebental, Ukraine"
Many inhabitants from Tschwerwenka relocated to the Odessa area because of the high taxes

Book "The Emigration from Germany to Russia in the Years 1763 to 1862" by Karl Stumpp:
"Jacob Riegel [Peter's son] settled with 32 years in Franzfeld, Ukraine with wife Elisabeth (30 years) and children Leopold (7), Maria (4), and Andreas (1)"

Grossliebental Death Records:
"Jakob Rigel died 12 Nov 1848 with 74 years, he came from Tscherwenka."

The later history of the Riegels in Ukraine is difficult to follow. We have notice of some Riegels to be shot for political reasons 1937 in Odessa, as reported since 1991 in the Russian magazine "New Life":
